Our History |
Formally organized in 1976, the
Veterinary Technicians and Assistants Association of Pennsylvania (VTAAP) was
created to represent Veterinary Technicians and Assistants as professionals.
VTAAP reorganized as PVTA in 2006. PVTA offers continuing education which
provides our members with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and
expertise for personal growth as well as maintaining quality in their
profession.
Obtaining Pennsylvania Certification for Technicians in 1982 and having a
technician on the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners since 1985 helps
to promote a strong professional image and raises the standards within the
field. College Scholarships are also available to help students benefit from
proper education.
PVTA communicates with our members by means of a newsletter which publishes
important information about the organization's activities, recent developments,
and state regulations. The newsletter also contains continuing education
articles, opinions, and employment information.
Cooperation with fellow technician associations, state regulatory bodies, and
veterinarians is essential for the overall purpose of improving Animal Welfare.
PVTA is proud of these accomplishments and strives to continue the development
and recognition of our profession through the years.
